Police seized about 17 pounds of marijuana and two Uzi submachine guns equipped with silencers in a raid Wednesday on a Half Moon Bay pot growing operation in a warehouse.
Officers also took about 1,500 pot plants in various stages of growth that were worth an estimated $1.2 million, according to the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force. Police said the operation on the 200 block of Yale Avenue had no known connection to the medical marijuana industry.
Investigators arrested Lask Tsatsaronis, 37, of Half Moon Bay at the warehouse on suspicion of growing and selling pot. A search of his house on the 600 Block of Marseille Land, turned up two more pounds of pot and six handguns. One of the weapons had been reported stolen in Suisun City, investigators said.
Police began investigating the warehouse after getting a tip and continue looking into who was involved. Other people may still be arrested in connection with grow operations, investigators said.
Tsatsaronis was released on bail and is due in San Mateo County Superior Court on March 5.
San Mateo County authorities on Wednesday seized more than 1,500 marijuana plants, approximately 19 pounds of processed marijuana and several guns from a Half Moon Bay warehouse complex that was being used to conceal an illegal indoor marijuana grow operation and a residence connected to the operation.
