Canada - KELOWNA, BC – A member of the Hells Angels and an associate of the motorcycle gang, have both been cleared of accusations they assaulted a Kelowna RCMP officer.
Charges were laid after an incident outside a Leon avenue nightclub in December 2011.
Two Mounties were trying to break up a fight among about five men, when one of the officers was grabbed from behind and punched several times in the head.
Thomas Volker, who police say belongs to the Mission City chapter of the Hells Angels, and Pedro Amestica were charged with assaulting a peace officer.
Both were acquitted after the judge accepted their explanation they didn't realize the person they allegedly punched was a uniformed RCMP officer.
He suffered minor injuries.
